A few simple notes on how to climb properly.
1. The most important thing about climbing is that a climber will climb with their legs. A lot of people try to pull their way way up the wall with their arms. That is like doing a chin up after chin up after chin up. This can become very draining very fast. It is important that the climber first looks for a spot of the hand to go to, then find a place for the food to go. They then stand stand up on the foot reaching for the hand hold. First the foot then the hand, this will create a pushing motion up the wall, instead of a pulling motion up the wall. The hand are only for balance. NOTE: as the climbs get harder there will be times when the hands will have to be used to pull yourself up the wall, but always try the feet first.
2. If knee can touch, then your foot can touch, and if your foot can touch, your toes can touch. So if your knee can touch then your toes can touch.
3. When you climb you want to keep your hips as close to the wall as possible. It is best if your hips can always be touching the wall. This may require pointing the toes out so your heels face the middle, and the knees point out as well. Doing this will keep the weight over your feet, the further away from the wall your butt gets it starts to pull you off the wall.
4. Trust the gear, climbing is never safe, however if the people who know what they are doing set it up correctly it will be as secure as possible.
