Making Teams

Posted by admin on March 12th, 2007

Three options for making teams that come with pros and cons:

1. 1 cabin is one team
Pros: The cabin grows in unity as they work as a team
It is easy to keep track of points and team members
Less paper work
Cons: Campers do not meet as many people
If there is tension between campers in the cabin there is no escape from it

2. Mix the cabins and genders into teams
Pros: The campers meet lots of other people
A safe environment for opposite sex mingling under the supervision of a few counselors
Easy for games, do not need to mix sexes and numbers
Different counselors get to work together
Cons: You have to make the teams (more paper work)
Have to have two separate point systems. 1 for the cabins and 1 for the teams

3. Just as genders (or battle of the sexes)
Pros: There is no inter-gender mixing (this can be good or bad, depends on the age)
There is the possibility of stronger bonding with the counselors
Cons: The teams are not fair, males are generally more aggressive and athletic competitive
Do not always have the same number of boys to girls

the options are endless, use one way all week, or switch it up for the appropriate game or do whatever will work for that time there are no rules.
