Balloon Tag

Posted by admin on March 12th, 2007

Description:
This is an individual tag game (30-100+ people)

Time:
15-20 min

Material:
-String (1 for every player and about 1-1.5 feet long)
-Balloons

Objective:
Be the last one standing with a balloon still intact

How to play:
Decide on a playing area. Give every camper a balloon. Get the campers or the staff to blow up the balloons. When you tie the balloons make sure the string is through the knot of the balloon. Then tie the balloons to the ankle of the camper. When the leader says go all the campers try to pop everyone else’s balloons while protecting their own balloon from being popped.

Rules:
-Do not step on the feet of the other players, only the balloons
-Stay in the play zone

Keeping Score

One way that you can motivate that campers to try to be clean and good is to keep score. One thing to remember when you when you are keeping score either it be a thermometer that is getting higher and higher or a rope that they are trying to get to a goal, is always remember that “0’s” are free. What that means is that if campers are trying to get 10 points over the week is not near as fun as trying to get 1,000,000,000 points and they get 100,000,000 points for clean cabins instead of 1 point. In summery more “0’s” = more fun (to an extent)

Scalps

Scalps Field

Description:
This is a high energy, high contact, competitive game for large groups (80-100+ People)

Time:
1 hour- 1.5 Hours

Material:
-Field
-Rope or something to divide the field
-4 Rolls of masking tape and 4 colored markers
-4 empty binders or something hard with that plastic covering
-4 Leaders
-2+ Refs

Objective:
To get the most pieces of tape for your team

How to play:
Divide the players in to four teams. Give each team a leader with 1 binder, a roll of tape, and a colored marker. Get the leader to rip off 2-3 inch pieces and cover one side of the binder. After the side of the binder is full the leader will put a strip of color on the tape from the marker. They will then give one piece of tape to each player and the player will put the tape on their forehead. The leader will then replace the missing pieces of tape with more colored pieces (This saves time during the game, it is very important that there are lots of tape backups. This can also be done before hand to save more time and just give the pre-loaded binder to the leader. It is also good to leave a little of the tape off the side for easy removal). To begin the game get all the teams in their quadrants and the leader stays in the base. When you say go one color can only get the tape off the forehead of players of one other color. For example, RED can only take GREEN tape and GREEN can only take BLUE tape and BLUE can only get YELLOW tape and YELLOW can only get RED tape. Once a player has taken a piece of tape off of another player, they need to get back to their quadrant and give the tape to the leader to stick to the other side of the binder for counting later.

Rules:
-You can not take tape in your own quadrant
-You can only take tape from your specified color
-No excessive violence
-If you have taken someone’s tape and are trying to get back to your quadrant and you lose your own tape you must give both piece to the player that caught you.
-If your tape is taken off of your forehead you must go back to base and get another piece of tape
-You only get points for take taken from your assigned color
-You can only get tape while you have tape on your forehead
