A few simple notes on how to climb properly.
1. The most important thing about climbing is that a climber will climb with their legs. A lot of people try to pull their way way up the wall with their arms. That is like doing a chin up after chin up after chin up. This can become very draining very fast. It is important that the climber first looks for a spot of the hand to go to, then find a place for the food to go. They then stand stand up on the foot reaching for the hand hold. First the foot then the hand, this will create a pushing motion up the wall, instead of a pulling motion up the wall. The hand are only for balance. NOTE: as the climbs get harder there will be times when the hands will have to be used to pull yourself up the wall, but always try the feet first.

In canoeing it is very important that the paddle is held correctly and that the strokes are performed correctly. If everything is done correctly then it is very easy to use, steer and control a canoe either it be with only one person or two. The proper way to hold a canoe paddle is to put the same hand that is the side that you are paddling on at the bottom near the blade of the paddle. Then you take your other hand and with the palm facing the ground you grab the very top of the paddle, so that the back of your hand faces the sky. Never should the top hand grab the shaft of the paddle, this will cause a decrease in efficiency and control. Some stroke that can be taught are:
-forward stroke
-back stroke
-J-stroke
-D-stroke
-cross bow draw
-figure 8 stroke

Freeze is an improv game were two people start to act out a scene about what ever they want. Then at any time someone else in the group watching yells “FREEZE” everything stops(the two people freeze in the position they are in). The person they yelled freeze gets up out of their seat and tells one of the people acting to sit down. The new person takes on the position that the other person was in and then the new person starts the talking and starts a new story line. And the other person needs to pick up on the new story line and go with it. Keep getting people to yell freeze. This is very funny to watch.

Get about 5-10 items together that range from big to very small. Then line them up at the end of the range in a line. Get the campers to start to shoot the biggest item and then the next small and so on till they can not hit the items anymore. Decide how many times they can miss. This can be all together or on one item. Once they hit that number they are done. See who can hit the smallest item and become the Sharpest Shooter. Give them a prize and/or an award of some sort that they can have to show there parents and friends.

As something that can be done near the end of the week is give the campers something to shoot at, if you pin or tape various sized balloons to the targets and get the campers to fire at them. It is important to have balloons of many sizes, this make it easy for some who are not that good and harder for the more advanced shooters. If you have a budget for the candy shop, put little coupons in the balloons and the campers gets the prize if they pop the balloon. Put the better candy in the smaller balloons.
